Targeting Afghan forces, the Taliban militants fired two mortar rounds on Almar district headquarters Sunday around 11:00am, said provincial police spokesman Karim Yourish.
The rounds landed in the district market, according to the spokesman, killing at least two civilians.
Another 14 civilians, including women and children were wounded in the attack and some nearby shops were damaged.
Three wounded people were in critical health condition, he continued.
The Taliban officials have not commented yet.
