Taliban deputy chief Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai who led the delegation said at a press conference Friday that Ghani and his government was the only hurdle to peace.
“If Ghani resigns today and let a new government come to power, we are ready to agree to ceasefire and peace,” the Taliban deputy chief said.
The Taliban deputy chief Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai and his delegation visited Moscow where he met with Russian senior officials and diplomats to discuss the peace process and the Doha deal.
During the visit, the Taliban has urged United States to fulfill its commitments to pull all its forces out of Afghanistan by May.
The Pentagon announced the Taliban have not met their commitment under the Doha deal to reduce violence which is raising question about whether all forces would leave by the scheduled time.
It follows the U.S. new administration’s announcement of plans to review at the peace agreement signed last February with Donald Trump administration.
