U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday said he has asked Zalmay Khalilzad to continue his job as the U.S. special representative for the Afghan peace process, Reuters reported.

U.S. special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad signed the historic U.S.-Taliban agreement aimed at ending the long war in Afghanistan during a ceremony in the Qatari capital, Doha, on February 29.

Earlier the U.S. new administration announced it plans to review a peace deal.

According to the peace pact, the Taliban made commitments to cut ties with al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups.
