Coronavirus: Afghanistan Reports 78 New Infections

Health authorities in Afghanistan announced Monday (January 25) the country has registered 78 new COVID-19 infections and four related deaths in the past 24 hours.

According to Afghan health ministry, at least four more patients have died after contracting the disease, pushing the toll of fatalities to 2,390.

The new deaths were registered in the capital Kabul, Herat and Badakhshan provinces.

Also, as many as 78 new cases of infection were reported in the country, bringing the nationwide case count to 54,750.

The new infection cases were registered in Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, Balkh, Nangarhar, Takhar, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Helmand, Laghman, Kunar and Nuristan provinces.

Some 47,365 patients have recovered from the virus since the outbreak first appeared in China entered the country.

At least 1,991 suspected cases were processed during the last 24-hour period.
