Clashes took place between Afghan security forces and unknown gunmen Sunday around 11:00am in the eleventh district of Herat city, according to a statement by office of the provincial police.
Three arrests were made and investigations were underway, read the statement.
Armed fights, assassinations, murder and abduction have recently soared in Herat province.
Local authorities point the blame at anti-government militants.
