Coronavirus: Afghanistan Reports 125 New Infections

Health authorities in Afghanistan announced Wednesday (January 20) the country has registered 125 new COVID-19 infections and nine related deaths in the past 24 hours.

According to Afghan health ministry, at least nine more patients have died after contracting the disease, pushing the toll of fatalities to 2,363.

The new deaths were registered in the capital Kabul, Herat, Paktia, Baghlan, Parwan, Maidan Wardak and Kunduz provinces.

Also, as many as 125 new cases of infection were reported in the country, bringing the nationwide case count to 54,403.

The new infection cases were registered in Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Paktia, Parwan, Nimroz, Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, Badakhshan, Laghman, Urozgan, Zabul, Faryab and Sarepul provinces.

Some 46,759 patients have recovered from the virus since the outbreak first appeared in China entered the country.

At least 2,385 suspected cases were processed during the last 24-hour period.
