At least five Taliban fighters, including a deputy leader of its special unit, were killed and many others wounded in overnight clashes with government forces Sunday.
Speaking to TKG, provincial police spokesman Khalil Aseer, said armed Taliban stormed Khaja Ghar district of northern province of Takhar on Sunday night, but the attack was thwarted by Afghan forces.
A member of the Afghan forces were also wounded in the clash which lasted for two hours, the spokesman added.
The Taliban officials have yet to comment.
