Unknown armed men shot dead two women near the 10th police district, Qala-i-Fathullah road, Sunday around 8:30am [Afghanistan time], police spokesman Ferdaws Faramarz said.

According to the spokesman, another one was injured in the attack.

The police spokesman did not elaborate further but reports say the women were employees of the Supreme Court.

Attacks against government workers have seen a rapid increase in Afghanistan. They are targeted either in sticky bombings or targeted killings but often unclaimed.

The attacks have prompted people’s outcry who accuse government of failing to protect its citizens.
