Speaking to TKG, Abdul Mujib Khelwatgar who heads the organization for supporting open media in Afghanistan said a number of worshipers attacked three local radios in Kunduz city after the broadcasting system of a radio station got connected with the loudspeaker of the mosque and started playing music through it.
The radio stations were located near the mosque, according to Mr. Khelwatgar, who added that there were no casualties inflicted to the employees during the attack.
Mohsin Ahmadi, editor-in-chief of Zohra radio meanwhile said the worshipers attacked the station at the order of mosque’s Imam.
He elaborated that lack of power caused the station to suspend its broadcasts from 9:00am to 1:00pm, but the Imam ordered attacking the radio without knowing who played the music.
Mr. Ahmadi urged the local authorities and media advocacy groups to investigate into the matter.
This is not the first time in Afghanistan radio stations come under attack.
