Friday around 3:00am [Afghanistan time], anti-government elements planned to detonate a military Humvee loaded with explosives on a base belonging to Afghan forces in Nani town in southern Ghazni province, said provincial governor spokesman Wahidullah Jumazada.

The military vehicle exploded prematurely after it was targeted by government forces; as a result, at least seven members of the Afghan National Army (ANA) were wounded and a civilian was killed.

The Afghan Ministry of Defense has meanwhile said following the explosion, Afghan forces carried out ground and air raids on the Taliban militants, killing at least eight armed group’s fighters and one of them injured.

Similarly in another airstrike carried out in Qara Bagh district of southern Ghazni province, three Taliban fighters, including a group leader were killed, according to the statement.

The Taliban officials have yet to comment.
