Cabinet of the Afghan government has approved a second draft of the next fiscal year’s budget. The decision was made on Monday, during a session of the Cabinet after the proposal was submitted by the Ministry Finance.
In the second draft of the state budget, next year’s budget has been increased from AFG452.641 billion to AFG473.040 billion.
Quoting the Deputy Finance Minister, President’s office (ARG) said in a statement the second draft of the budget was submitted to Cabinet to meet unanticipated new requirements.
The second draft budget for the fiscal year 1400 included AFN311.199 billion for the ordinary budget and AFN161.842 billion for the development budget.
Following the approval, the Cabinet ordered the Finance Ministry to refer the draft to parliament for an immediate final approval.
Afghan legislators in the Lower House of the Parliament (Wolesi Jirga) earlier on December 30 voted down the fiscal year’s draft budget.
The decision by lawmakers stemmed over excluding 1,131 provincial projects, allocating 1.8 billion Afghanis to 91 Code and another 1.8 billion for Code 92−government’s policy codes used in urgent time−as well as allocating a large amount of money for the operational unit of President’s Administrative Office.
The first draft budget for the fiscal year 1400 included AFN296 billion for the ordinary budget and AFN156 billion for the development budge.
