COVID-19 in Afghanistan: Total Cases Hit 53,462

The coronavirus total case count hit 53,462 in Afghanistan after it registered 84 more coronavirus infections over the last 24 hours.

At least 84 people tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic within the past 24 hours, said the health ministry Saturday, adding the country recorded 12 COVID-19 deaths during the same period.

The new patients died from the illness pushed the total deaths to 2,279, according to ministry’s figures.

Also, 300 patients having been contracted with the COVID-19 disease have recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the toll of coronavirus recoveries to 43,740.

At least 1,003 tests were carried out during the past 24 hour period.

Worldwide, 1,912,911 have died from the deadly disease and over 88.7 million more have been infected since the start of an outbreak that first appeared in Wuhan, China, in early December.
