Afghanistan reported additionally 94 new cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday (January 5), bringing its nationwide caseload to 53,105.

At least 1,820 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours.

The country lost at least seven people to the coronavirus within the last 24 hours, according to the latest data by the health ministry, pushing the total fatalities in the country to 2,244.

According to the official data provided by the health ministry, at least 136 patients having been infected with the novel COVID-19 have got better after the illness, bringing the recovery toll to 42,666 in the country.

Worldwide, 1,848,724 people have lost the battle for their lives and the total infections passed 85.2 million, a tally by Reuters indicated.
