Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in a telephone conversation spoke with Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo Tuesday, his office said, adding both discussed the Afghan peace process and emphasized on immediate ceasefire in Afghanistan.
“President Ghani discussed the Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process and stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in Afghanistan,” read the statement.
President Widodo pledged his country’s support for “a lasting consensus” of religious clerics/Ulema for Afghanistan’s peace process, the statement added.
The leaders also discussed bilateral economic expansion and trade ties between Afghanistan and Indonesia.
