Afghanistan’s Supreme Court has charged Former Minister of Mines and Petroleum with counts of abuse of power.

Former Mines and Petroleum Minister Sentenced to Jail Terms, Fine

Former Minister of Mines and Petroleum Wahidullah Shahrani has been sentenced to one year and one month in jail and fined with $1.5 million for abuse of power charges, according to the Afghan Supreme Court’s statement.

The former minister was accused of authority abuse while a firm was being set up in western Herat province.

The minister has not commented on the matter yet.
