He was born in Rika Khana in the Afghan capital Kabul.
Zaryab studied a degree in journalism from Kabul University then pursued further education in Wales and New Zealand.
The Afghan writer held various positions throughout his career journeys.
He had a job with Zhowandon Magazine as crime reporter during 1970s. He had also worked as journalist and editor for different organizations and held different government positions.
Zaryab married to Spozhmay Raouf. His wife and three daughters live in Paris, France.
