Mohammad Rafiq Alkozai, acting police chief of Oba district was killed after clashes which took place today morning between Afghan forces and Taliban fighters, said Abdul Ahad Walizadeh, Herat police spokesman.
Another police was also killed during the fight, police spokesman added.
There were casualties inflicted to Taliban fighters too, said Mr. Walizadeh, without releasing further details on the number.
The Taliban officials have yet to comment.
