The South-Asian country’s nationwide caseload was pushed to 46,498 as new people caught the disease.
The COVID-19 related deaths stood at 1,779 after 16 new patients contracting the illness died during the same period, a tally by the health ministry indicated.
Also, the number of COVID-19 recoveries hit 36,731 after 57 patients got better during the 24-hours period.
Worldwide, more than 62.4 million people have been reported infected with the coronavirus pandemic and a total of 1,456,448 have died, according to the Reuters’ coronavirus tracker.
