Three government military helicopters have taken dozens of injured victims from Bamyan bombing to Kabul for treatment, said Fawad Aman, deputy spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Defense.
Twin blasts rocked Tuesday an outdoor market in Sarak-e Naw area of Bamyan city. It was an unprecedented attack in one of the country’s safest provinces.
Forughuddin Amiri, head of the provincial hospital, put the toll of casualties to 14 killed and over 50 injured.
According to Latif Azimi, a spokesman for Bamyan’s governor, two people alleged to be behind the attack have been arrested. He said at least 15 have been killed and another 59 wounded.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, and the Taliban denied to be behind.
