Twin blasts rocked an outdoor market in Bamyan city yesterday around 4:40pm—unprecedented blast in one of the country’s safest provinces.
Tariq Arian, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Interior, said the explosions took place in Sarak-e Naw area of Bamyan city.
Forughuddin Amiri, head of the provincial hospital, put the toll of casualties to 14 killed and over 50 injured.
According to Latif Azimi, a spokesman for Bamyan’s governor, two people alleged to be behind have been arrested. He said at least 15 have been killed and another 59 wounded.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
