At least 280 people were tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic within the past 24 hours, said the health ministry, adding the country lost eight COVID-19 patients during the same period.
The new patients died from the illness pushed the total deaths to 1,695, according to ministry’s figures.
Also, 42 patients having been contracted with the COVID-19 disease have recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the toll of coronavirus recoveries to 35,975.
Worldwide, 1,389,509 have died from the deadly disease and over 58.6 more have been infected since the start of an outbreak that first appeared in Wuhan, China, in early December.
