Taliban Attack Fended off in Northern Afghanistan

The Taliban fighters stormed security forces in Gerzewan district of Faryab province last night around 9:00, Afghanistan time, said the provincial police spokesman Abdul Karin Yourish.

The attack was fended off by government forces, triggering clashes with the fighters, he added.

Mr. Yourish further said at least three Taliban and one of the security members were wounded during the fighting.

The Taliban officials have not commented yet.
