The United States registered another daily record number of novel coronavirus cases on Friday, surpassing 180,000 for the first time, according to JHU’s tally.

The country recorded 184,514 new coronavirus infections on Friday, according to John Hopkins University’s tally—another daily rise in the number of cases.

The country’s nationwide case count has jumped to more than 10.8 million as new cases were registered on Friday.

The U.S. death toll from the disease hit nearly 245,000—more than any other country—after it recorded more 1,400 new fatalities on Friday.

The nation’s most populous state, California, on the West Coast, has surpassed the 1 million mark for COVID-19 cases, as has Texas in the South.

Worldwide, more than 53.9 million people have been reported infected with the coronavirus pandemic and a total of 1,311,427 have died, according to the JHU’s coronavirus tracker.
