According to the statement, Ambassador Potzel briefed President Ghani on his recent trip to the Qatari capital of doha.
Both sides, voicing concern over the recent escalation in violence, discussed the Afghan peace process, said the Presidential Palace.
He has also met with National Security Adviser Hamdullah Mohib and Acting Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar, as per reports.
Chairperson of the Afghan Reconciliation Council, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, has also announced in a tweet that he met with Ambassador Potzel, discussing the peace process, talks in Doha and “regional peace diplomacy & Germany’s role in the peace process.”
Potzel’s meetings comes as the already-delayed intra-Afghan peace negotiations have been stalled due to disputes over some controversial issues.
Negotiators from both the government and the Taliban have been meeting in Doha since September 12–still working out rules and procedures needed for the negotiations.
