Afghanistan’s national reconciliation council announced that its chief, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, has met with the Uzbek Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov during his two-day trip in the neighboring country.
The Uzbek FM Kamilov said that Uzbekistan also supports the Afghan peace negotiations in Doha.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s top peace official Abdullah Abdullah said the Afghan government remains committed to seizing the exceptional opportunity for peace.
“We urge the Taliban to seize this opportunity and work for peace,” Dr. Abdullah said. “No one should seek to gain a politically upper hand by escalating violence.”
Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation left Wednesday, November 11, for the Uzbek capital of Tashkent to meet a number of high-ranking officials in the country.
Following his meeting with the neighboring country’s foreign minister, Dr. Abdullah met with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss the Afghan peace process, talks in Doha and bilateral relations.
