A military chopper, said to be an MI-17 type, crashed due to technical snags late Tuesday night around 12:00am, a statement by Ministry of Defense said.
“Last night around 12:00 a.m., an AAF helicopter crashed while taking off in Hesarak district of Nangarhar Prov. due to technical issues,” read the statement.
A member of Afghan National Police (ANP) and a flight crew were killed and two others were wounded, as the statement put the toll.
The Taliban officials said the group’s fighters have downed two military helicopters in Hesarak, claiming to have killed 21 government commandos and wounded many more.
