Militants detonated an explosive-rigged vehicle in Maiwand district of Kandahar province last night, Jamal Nasir Barekzai, the provincial police chief’s spokesman told TKG.
He put the toll of casualties to a woman killed and 16 others wounded—both government forces and civilians were among the people who injured.
The attack targeted the police command of Mawiand district, according to the spokesman.
According to other sources, at least 24 dead bodies and four people who wounded in the explosion were rushed to Mirwais Hospital.
