Local officials in southern Urozgan province said that at least 12 Taliban militants were killed and another 15 wounded during Afghan military raids on insurgents in Dehrawod district of the province.
Ahmadshah Sahil, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said within last few days, the government forces have seized captured security outposts back from the fighters.
Clearance operations were ongoing to recapture areas under the Taliban-control, said Mr. Sahil.
Two Afghan forces have been wounded during the military operation.
The Taliban have yet to comment.
