The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoting the Global Islamic Unity Forum of Malaysia, said the organization has condemned the recent escalation in hostilities in the war-torn Afghanistan, urging the conflict sides to work to put an end to violence.
It called on the warring parties to utilize the “historic opportunity” to advance the peace process which is led and owned by Afghans.
“Keeping unity and resolving the problems and conflicts through dialogue and negotiation is the only right way to achieve peace and stability in Afghanistan,” the GIUF said.
It comes as, earlier, Afghanistan’s religious scholars also gathered on October 26, denouncing the ongoing war in the country. They urged an end to what they called a “power tussle” between the government and the militant group.
It was followed by scores of religious scholars and clerics of Bangladesh declaring in a gathering titled “Call of the Ulama-Mashayekh of Bangladesh for the Establishment of Peace in Afghanistan” that ongoing war in the country has no legitimacy and is forbidden in Islam.
