Hanif Rezaiee, a spokesman for the 209th Shaheen Army Corps, said as many as eight Taliban militants were killed and 14 others wounded as clashes erupted between government forces and the group’s fighters Saturday in Jorliq village of Qaisar district in northern Faryab province.
Four explosive devices were also detected and demolished by government forces, according to the source.
Two members of the Afghan forces got light injuries l, Mr. Rezaiee further continued.
The Taliban officials have yet to comment.
