Afghan forces conducted clearance operations Tuesday night in Lashkargah city and reasserted control over Basharan, Bolan, Chah-e Anjir, the fourth and tenth district of the provincial capital, said the ministry in a statement.
According to the statement, as many as 30 Taliban militants have been killed and many more wounded.
“Displaced families are returning back to their homes,” the MoD further said.
The Taliban, however, issued denial to claims.
Afghanistan’s southern Helmand had been a scene of violent clashes between government forces and the Taliban since the previous two weeks, forcing thousands of families to flee their homes.
