A car fitted with explosives detonated in front of a base belonging to Afghan Special Forces in Khost city on Tuesday morning around 5:50am, said the Interior Ministry’s spokesman, Tariq Arian.
The blast was followed by another suicide bombing, with Afghan forces not letting the assailants enter the military facility, according to Mr. Arian. Clashes are still ongoing to clear the attackers, he continued.
He put the preliminary toll of casualties to two killed and 25 others wounded. At least nine civilians and 16 members of military were among the people wounded, according to the source.
Mr. Arian added that four attackers have been killed so far, with government forces trying to eliminate another two.
