At least 13 people have been killed Saturday, around 4:30pm, in a bomb attack targeting an educational center in west of the Afghan capital Kabul, officials in the Ministry of Interior confirmed.

Blast Rocks Afghan Capital, Over Dozen Killed

The Afghan Interior Ministry said a bomb blast targeting the Kawsar-e-Danish educational center in west of Kabul was caused when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the center.

A suicide bomber in attempt to enter an educational center in Kabul’s 13th district, in Pul-e Khushk area, was detected by center’s bodyguards, according to the ministry’s spokesman, Tariq Arian. The attacker detonated his explosives, leaving as many as 43 killed and wounded.

Mr. Arian said the number of casualties were likely to rise.

No armed group immediately claimed the attack, but the Taliban denied to be responsible.

Following the blast, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, who chairs the High Council for National Reconciliation, in a statement condemned the suicide attack, calling it inhuman and against Islamic values.
