Coronavirus: Afghanistan Records 61 New Lab-Confirmed Cases

The Afghan health ministry reported 61 additional cases on Friday (October 23), saying the country has now registered 40,687 coronavirus cases and a total of 1,507 deaths since the outbreak.

In the last 24 hours, 61 more people tested positive for the deadly disease, and two additional people lost the battle for their lives after contracting it, figures by the Afghan health ministry indicated.

Another statistic has also indicated a rise: the number of patients recovered from the illness.

According to health ministry data, 179 additional patients recovered from the novel coronavirus during the same period, bringing the toll to 34,000.

The novel coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, which first appeared in china’s central province of Hubei has now spread to almost everywhere and claimed lives of more than a million across the globe.
