Most of the victims who lost their lives in yesterday’s airstrike were children, with the provincial governor’s spokesman putting toll of casualties to 12 children killed.

Speaking to TKG, governor’s spokesman Mohammad Jawad Hijri said as many as 14 others–all civilians–were wounded.

The strike took place in Hazara Qarloq area of Baharak district in Takhar province, where a day earlier dozens of government forces were killed in a Taliban ambush, erupting clashes with Afghan forces.

Security authorities could not be reached for comment.
