A Taliban plot to storm security outposts in Nahr-e Shahi district was thwarted on Monday afternoon, triggering clashes with Afghan forces, said a statement by 209th Shaheen Army Corps.
At least six Taliban fighters, including their shadow governor for Nahr-e Shahi district, were killed, according to the statement.
Mullah Sheren and Mullah Saber, two other leaders of militants, were also among the dead, the statement further read.
The Taliban have yet to comment.
