Coronavirus: Afghanistan Records 87 New Lab-Confirmed Cases

The Afghan health ministry reported 87 additional cases on Monday (October 19, 2020), saying the country has now registered 40,287 coronavirus cases and a total of 1,497 deaths since the outbreak.

In the last 24 hours, 87 more people tested positive for the deadly disease, and five additional people lost the battle for their lives after contracting it, a tally by the Afghan health ministry indicated.

The western Herat reported 25 new positive tests within the last 24 hours.

The rest 62 new lab-confirmed cases were registered in nine provinces of the country, including the capital Kabul.

Another statistic has also indicated a rise: the number of patients recovered from the illness. According to health ministry data, 146 additional patients recovered from the novel coronavirus, bringing the toll to 33,760.
