The Afghan Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Asadullah Khalild, the acting defense minister, has visited Helmand province for a situation assessment bid.
In his visit, the caretaker of Defense Ministry met with the provincial governor General Yasin Khan and other senior officials to discuss ways to better ensure security.
The visit comes as the Taliban, despite the ongoing peace talks, have been ramping up their dead-dealing attacks on the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANDSF) in southern Helmand province.
As per reports, more than four thousand people have been displaced and dozens killed as result of intense violence which is still ongoing in the province.
