A spokesman for Laghman’s police chief, Shafiullah Afghanyar, said a bomb explosion targeted the car of Atiqullah Abdul Rahimzai, the provincial council’s chairman.
Head of the council and three of his bodyguards were injured, he continued.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack came days after a car bomb targeted the provincial governor, Rahmatullah Yarmal, on Monday morning.
At least 36 were killed or wounded in the explosion, out of which six civilians were pronounced to be killed and 26 others injured.
Two of the governor’s bodyguards were killed and another two wounded in Monday’s attack for which no one claimed responsibility.
