The caretaker of Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Hanif Atmar said addressing a press conference in Doha that government and the Taliban negotiators have made progress in peace talks and were close to reach an agreement.
The Afghan government urges countries in the world and in the region to support the peace process, said the foreign minister.
He pressed for a reduction in violence, adding there is a need for a mechanism to be put to reduce the level of hostilities.
The Afghan foreign minister Hanif Atmar underlined a need for further efforts to be made to strengthen consensus for Afghan peace at regional and international levels.
It comes as a report by Reuters said on Tuesday, October 6, the Taliban officials and Afghan negotiators agreed on a code of conduct that sets ground rules to advance their peace talks in Doha.
But authorities from both sides issued a denial to the report, saying the negotiating representatives were still ongoing to reach to an agreement on rules and procedures for the talks.
