The daily rise in the number of coronavirus deaths was sharply high on Friday, September 25, with 1,141 new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry’s data.
According to India’s health ministry, 40% of the new deaths reported yesterday are from Maharashtra state with 459 deaths followed by Punjab and Uttar Pradesh with 76 and 67 deaths, respectively.
The latest data related to the pandemic indicated that over 6.8 million people in India have been infected by the virus, while the total nationwide recoveries stood at more than 4.75 million.
Following the United States, India has become the second country with the highest number of COVID-19 cases.
The south-Asian country has recorded to be the world’s third country with the highest number of deaths caused by COVID-19.
