Leaders and delegates from around 200 countries usually meet collectively at the annual U.N. General Assembly to hear about world problems and to provide a number of solutions.

Virtually speaking at the meeting, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said addressing to world leaders that his country sits at the heart of untapped potential, peace and prosperity, but is also a victim of turmoil.

President Ghani highlighted five “drivers of turmoil” his country is dealing with simultaneously which include the coronavirus pandemic, unconventional warfare, global terrorism, climate change and an unprecedented explosion of inequality.

President Ghani called reiterated for need to ceasefire, calling it a “priority”.

“Though we are facing multiple drivers of turmoil, there’s a clear and urgent priority for us, and that is a ceasefire,” he said.

“I would like to take this opportunity to call on every member of the General Assembly and the P5 to help us achieve the end state of a sovereign, united and democratic Afghanistan at peace with itself in the region.”

“A democratically stable and prosperous Afghanistan of how our collective will can overcome the turmoil and uncertainty that defines our world today,” he added.
