Afghanistan Records 26 New COVID-19 Cases

The Afghan health ministry announced Tuesday (September 8) that the country has now registered 38,520 coronavirus cases and a total of 1,418 deaths since the outbreak.

In the last 24 hours, 26 more people tested positive for the highly contagious coronavirus, and three additional patients died after contracting it, a tally by the Afghan health ministry indicated.

Herat saw the largest increase in cases with 14 new positive tests within the last 24 hours.

The northern Kunduz province follows Herat with eight additional cases reported in the past 24 hours.

Another statistic has also indicated a rise: the number of patients recovered from the illness. According to health ministry data, 158 additional patients recovered from the novel coronavirus, bringing the toll to 30,715.
