Coronavirus in Afghanistan: Total Cases Hits 38,288

The Afghan health ministry announced Thursday (September 03) that the country has now registered 38,288 coronavirus cases and a total of 1,410 deaths since the outbreak.

In the last 24 hours, 45 more people tested positive for the highly contagious coronavirus, and one additional patient died after contracting it, a tally by the Afghan health ministry indicated.

The southern Kandahar province reported 20 new positive tests within the last 24 hours, the highest number of cases among other provinces reporting new COVID-19 cases during this period.

The rest 25 new lab-confirmed cases were registered in six provinces of the country.

Another statistic has also indicated a rise: the number of patients recovered from the illness. According to health ministry data, 75 additional patients recovered from the novel coronavirus, bringing the toll to 29,390.
