Afghan forces carried out airstrikes against three bases of the Taliban in Qaisar, Dawlat Abad and Qaramqul districts of Faryab, inflicting heavy casualties to the armed group’s fighters, said Abdul Karim Yourish, a spokesman for the provincial police chief.
At least 43 Taliban fighters were killed and another 15 wounded, Mr. Yourish added.
A number of the armed fighters’ motorbikes – as many as twelve – and some weapons were also destroyed in the airstrikes.
The Taliban, however, has yet to comment.
