India: COVID-19 Related Deaths Hit 50,000

The daily rise in the number of coronavirus deaths was sharply high on Monday, August 17, with 900 new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry’s data.

The latest data related to the pandemic indicated that over 2.5 million people have been infected by the virus, while the total nationwide recoveries stood at 1,862,258.

Following the United States and Brazil, and Mexico, India has become the fourth country with the highest number of COVID-19 deaths.

The south-Asian country last week overtook Britain with the world’s fourth-highest number of deaths.
