A group of uniformed men kidnapped Matiullah Jan, a freelance journalist who has worked for numerous local and foreign media outlets, on July 21.
Jan was released 12 hours after his abduction in Fateh Jang, a small town in Punjab, Pakistan.
“I am back home safe & sound. God has been kind to me & my family. I am grateful to friends, national & int. journalist community, political parties, social media & rights activists, lawyers bodies, the judiciary for their quick response which made it possible,” he took to Twitter.
Matiullah Jan is said to have long criticized the military and judicial establishment.
