Herat: CPAG Voice Concern over Civilian Casualties

Addressing a press conference on Thursday (June 25), members of the CPAG hit out the recent deadly attacks on mosques, residential areas and farms planned and carried out by the Taliban and other insurgent groups.

There has been a spike in civilian casualties, in particular casualties to the religious clerics, members of CPAG said, adding that no exact figures of the fatalities, however, were provided.

Sayed Ashraf Sadat, a member of the Civilian Protection Advocacy Group said addressing to media that the attacks on mosques and public as well as killing of the civilians, particularly the clerics, are considered war crimes.

He called on warring parties to halt attacks on mosques, madrasas and residential areas.

Earlier the Afghan National Security Council on Monday (June 25) announced that only within a past week at least 42 civilians were killed by the armed Taliban while another 106 were wounded.
