Over the past 24 hours, 108 people were tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic, said Mohammad Rafiq Shirzai, head of health department in the province, adding six COVID-19 patients have died of the disease.
According to him, as of today, 219 patients having been contracted with the COVID-19 disease have been hospitalized in Herat province, of which 15 were in critical health condition.
As number of cases continues to increase, the Afghan Ministry of Public Health has decided to test only suspected cases related to people above 65.
So far, Afghanistan has reported 12,456 coronavirus infections, with a total of 227 deaths and more than a thousand total recoveries, the data collated by health ministry indicated.
