At least 307,696 people have died from COVID-19 worldwide and 4,542,752 have been infected by the coronavirus pandemic, following an outbreak that started in Chinese central city of Wuhan, in early December.
More than half of the fatalities have been reported by the United States, Spain and Italy.
The United States is the most heavily-impacted country, having lost more than 87,559 lives to the pandemic while the United Kingdom remains another worst-affected country of the world with 34,078 total fatalities.
As of today, U.S. on reported a total of 1,443,188 infections while the deaths toll in the country hit more than 87,000, according to a tally by John Hopkins University.
The director of the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Robert Redfield, said the department’s forecasting models predict U.S. deaths from Covid-19 will exceed 100,000 by June 1, as CNN reported.
